Why contribute to a cause? How can you be sure that you are doing the right thing?

There are thousands of charitable organisations, NGOs and Foundations representing worthwhile causes and helping alleviate the many problems our society faces. Your choice of cause is a personal one, determined by your own life experience, priorities and beliefs. For us at Ma Foi Foundation children, especially their access to quality education and health care, seems to be the one fundamental route to addressing the many social problems.

If you have have decided on a particular cause, your next step will be to choose a particular organization to support. Most individuals find this step difficult. Most of our own donors tell us that the two criteria most important to them are effectiveness and accountability. They need to clearly see both, that their contributions are making a significant, tangible difference and that this is being achieved honestly and transparently.

So before you make a contribution, meet representatives of the NGO or social organization. Check their Annual Reports and speak to some of your friends or colleagues before deciding to contribute.

A frequently asked question is, why should I donate to a CSR initiative of an organization. Why can't I instead support a grassroot NGO?

Ma Foi Foundation is the CSR initiatve of Ma Foi- the largest HR services provider in the country. As an organization we do allocate a portion of our funds towards our CSR activities.
But our resources alone are not sufficient to bring about a sea change in the community. Why?
Because we believe that no child should go to bed hungry. That every child must be given her right to education and quality healthcare. That every human being should be given enough opportunities to earn his livelihood.

This calls for a social movement of a scale that an organization, independently cannot create. It requires people from across the world, change makers and mountain movers of all ages, from all cities and towns, who believe that its about time we change the situation.

Backed by an organization like Ma Foi, this change could be done faster. But it needs that much number of people to join hands to bring about sustainable change.
